At Wellport the privacy & security of your health information is a top priority. Federal law makes it illegal for unauthorized persons to access your personal health records. Individuals that are found guilty of such illegal activities are subject to prosecution. Wellport’s policies and procedures are even more protective than is required by law.

Here’s what we do to safeguard your information:

• We incorporate highly secure technologies to protect your information. Both physical & electronic barriers are used to help reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
• A careful record and audit is kept of any person who accesses your information. As a Wellport participant you can review the audit log to see who has accessed your information. (This type of accountability is not possible when using paper records).
• Any person who accesses your medical information is required to have an appropriate reason to do so. Severe penalties are in place in the unlikely instance that the information is accessed inappropriately or misused.
• Secure electronic messaging is used which is encrypted (in code) , password protected, and traceable.
• Only authorized users see your real name. Your name appears in code.

• Only information relevant to your health is contained at
• Your employers, health insurance companies, and federal and government agencies cannot access

As with any record system, electronic or paper, there is always a remote possibility that information could be obtained by an unauthorized person. Should this happen, the appropriate steps will be taken.
